Recorder? Anyone can! A concert with Dorothee Oberlinger shows just how far off the mark this preconception is. She conjures up sounds from the small instrument with a virtuosity that you won't soon forget. In our concert, she plays Terry Riley's piece, which gave birth to minimal music, so to speak. In other words, music that can create an incredible pull with very few notes. But you can hardly escape the pull of the flute either, at least when Marianna Julia Zolnacz, our new solo flutist, plays it.
