Are there constant conflicts, has the world somehow become restless and do you suddenly no longer get on even with your best friend and Aunt Susanne? Lara Ermer's advice: don't bury your head in the sand, but go full steam ahead into the next argument! Suppressed anger is demonstrably not good for us, and a little clinch can act as an outlet. And if we're going to throw ourselves into the arena, why not just be right for once?

That's why Lara Ermer is relying on the power of facts and psychological studies and providing the killer arguments along the way: Society is drifting completely apart and polarization is greater than ever? Well, not really. The majority of people still subscribe to "centrist" positions. The more extreme fringes on the left and right remain outnumbered - they just like to argue so loudly that they are hard to ignore. So perhaps we shouldn't leave the field to them without a fight and do something for our mental health at the same time. We also learn in this book that using politically correct language is incredibly exhausting. At the same time, politically correct language in the workplace promotes creativity and innovation in the company. And we learn why conspiracy theories that we concoct ourselves are particularly seductive.

Lara Ermer is an author, presenter and comedienne. She uses humor to make complex topics accessible. Her clear view of people and her passion for questioning them is something she learned during her studies in psychology, among other things. Instead of pursuing a career as a psychologist, however, she preferred to focus her talent entirely on the stage rather than on the therapy couch after completing her bachelor's degree. Ermer's first book "Ein offenes Buch - Von idealen Körpern, perfektem Sex und anderen Mythen" was published in 2021 and was a surprise success. She was awarded the 2024 German Cabaret Prize, among others, for her work.
