LARCENY

In the organizer's words:

The English word "larceny" is probably

the most beautiful word for "theft"

- and taking harmonies and making them sound new has always been the most beautiful "jazz standard".

The band "Larceny" plays its own compositions throughout. Seemingly familiar, catchy melodies are combined with modern sound patterns, the ideal, the "beauty of music" remains the leitmotif of these pieces.

Each concert is characterized by a dynamic arc of tension ranging from romantic and melancholic to powerful and energetic sounds. The first album "Crosscurrent" (XJAZZ!Music, Berlin) is inspired by a trip to the Faroe Islands and tells of becoming, passing and being.

The compositions were written by all members of the musicians' collective, which was founded in 2021 and has already enjoyed its first international successes. Among other things, the track "Cheap Sheep" has already been included in the music database of "Radio Swiss Jazz". The band was also part of the "jazzahead! Clubnight" 2024 in Bremen and winner of the "Playground Competition" of the "Jazzopen Stuttgart" 2025.
