The form is British, the content this time Italian, or: London meets Verona. Just as the famous London Proms concerts are rounded off with a "Last Night" - one of the finest musical and social traditions in the United Kingdom - the concert season of the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck is also crowned with such a "Last Night of the Season". Whether "Pomp and Circumstance" or "Rule Britannia", all the old favorites find their place here. At the same time, however, Italian opera is celebrated: Jihyun Cecilia Lee, Modestas Sedlevicius and Matthew Vickers will slip into popular opera roles in the picturesque palace park of Jagdschloss Kranichstein and present the emotional centerpieces from works by the grand masters Gioachino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini. This open-air evening of a special kind will delight an audience that knows how to celebrate - with a picnic basket, champagne goblet and plenty of good humor.
