Berlin in the 90s, Lola and Manni are in their early twenties and in love. Manni has recently become involved in a few semi-criminal stories and works as a money courier for a car pusher. But today everything goes wrong: he has completely messed up the money transfer because he left the plastic bag with the money in the subway while fleeing from ticket inspectors. 100,000 marks! And his boss wants to pick up the money in 20 minutes. Manni is desperate. He doesn't know what to do and calls Lola. Lola's brain is racing: 20 minutes to get 100,000 marks. Then she has an idea - and LOLA RUNS...
