On the last Friday and Saturday of the month, we show carefully selected films - popular classics as well as exciting new releases. What scientists had actually ruled out for the next five billion years will now happen in just 50 years: The sun is dying! Highly stable matter is preventing the nuclear fusion that keeps our vital star alive. The only hope for Earth's inhabitants to preserve the energy-rich star is to detonate a bomb inside the sun to restore it to its natural state. After the first mission fails and the "Icarus" is lost shortly before reaching its destination, a second ship is sent out seven years later in a final act of desperation to save humanity.
