Driven by President Donald Trump and his Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a variety of announcements and measures by the US administration are causing great concern among countries in Central and South America. The scenarios are as diverse as they are significant: they range from the deportation of migrants, punitive tariffs and extortionate trade policies to the tightening of sanctions and possible occupations. The denial of climate change and the discontinuation of development policy cooperation round off the picture. Representatives of Latin American organizations under the umbrella of the One World Center Heidelberg will report on the effects on Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela, as well as on their local project partners.
