Lauren Spencer Smith was born in 2003 in Portsmouth, England, but grew up in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island in Canada. Inspired by music at an early age, she says she was unable to attend concerts or join a musical theater due to her remoteness. Instead, she produced YouTube cover videos and took part in American Idol, where she finished in the top 20. Despite her elimination from the show, she continued to work hard on her music and managed to go viral several times as an independent artist after the release of her debut EP "Mixed Emotions". First, the single "Back to Friends" with a reduced singer-songwriter sound reached several million views on TikTok in 2021, before "Fingers Crossed" became an even bigger viral success and took her career to a new level in 2022 with a record deal with Island / Republic Records. 2023 saw the release of her debut album "Mirror", which entered the Billboard 200 at number 49 and number 11 in the UK.
