Leben hinter Stacheldraht – Kriegsgefangene in Münster im Ersten Weltkrieg (1914–1918)

In the organizer's words:

After receiving an extensive donation from the Münster Stamp Collectors' Association in April of this year, the Stadtmuseum Münster will be showing an exhibition on the first prisoner-of-war camps in Münster during the First World War from August 24.

On display are covers and postcards from the period from 1914 to 1918, which were sent from the three large prisoner-of-war camps on the outskirts of the city. They are embedded in the history of the three prison camps, which at times housed up to 90,000 prisoners - as many people as Münster had inhabitants at the time. They were located in the infantry barracks on Grevener Straße, on the grounds of the Westphalian Riding Club racecourse and on the military training grounds near Haus Spital.

This small exhibition will be on display at the checkpoint until November 24.
