In the film, Traute and Ulli Sander talk about their political lives since the end of the Second World War. Even as a primary school pupil at the Bullenhuser Damm school in Hamburg, Ulli had his first experience of the official efforts to suppress Nazi crimes. As an adult, he was involved in the very first Easter marches. His research on Helmuth Hübener, whose death sentence was carried out in 1943 at the age of 17 because of his resistance activities, led to late honors for Helmuth Hübener by naming a school in Hamburg and the prison school in Berlin Plötzensee. Ulli supported Beate Klarsfeld's campaigns with research assistance and publications. Ulli always understood his activities in the context of the goals of the VVN-BdA, based on the oath of Buchenwald: "The destruction of Nazism and its roots is our mission.

These activities include his involvement in the initiatives for the rehabilitation of the victims of the Cold War, the actions against the meetings of the mountain troops in Mittenwald, the research and publications on the crimes of the economy in connection with Hitler's fascism, the initiatives on the children of the resistance and much more.
