In a recent column for Rolling Stone, author Eric Pfeil wrote a paean to the romantic idea of the band as a gang of friends. A rock band, according to Pfeil, is a "hotbed of mischief" with "errant ambitions", and forming one yourself is "one of the most meaningful undertakings of all for young people."
Perhaps Eric Pfeil was thinking of the Viennese band Leftovers when he wrote this fiery appeal. For three albums now, Leftovers have been celebrating what it means to unhinge the world with your friends in an invigorating way.
