On the climate of war, Nazis and fakes. Francisco de Goya called his famous etching "The sleep of reason", "gives birth to monsters". Today's monsters are as threatening as few in history: the erosion of democracy from the right and through fake news in the debating chambers, climate change, a war that could drag us into a global catastrophe. Everything that happens is part of a series of causes, Immanuel Kant teaches us. That is why it is extremely important where you start a story. What's happening before a "turning point"? And how do we find the way to a sensible political system with participation for all? Daniela Dahn will read from her 'Wake-up call in times of nightmare' and will be available for a discussion with the audience afterwards. There will be champagne and orange juice for everyone!!!

Daniela Dahn, born in Berlin, studied journalism in Leipzig and was a television journalist. She resigned in 1981 and has worked as a freelance writer and publicist ever since. She was a founding member of "Demokratischer Aufbruch" and has held several guest lectureships in the USA and Great Britain. She is a member of PEN and has been awarded the Fontane Prize, the Kurt Tucholsky Prize for Literary Journalism, the Luise Schroeder Medal of the City of Berlin and the Ludwig Börne Prize, among others. Fourteen books of essays and non-fiction have been published by Rowohlt to date, most recently "Im Krieg verlieren auch die Sieger" (2022).
