Leo Neu has been building the Tonlichtmaschine for 10 years, giving concerts in the gray area between human and mechanical performance. These self-made sound and light objects made of electronics, scrap, acrylic glass and wood are unique devices that hammer, rattle, rustle and flicker. Together with Leo Neu on the piano, they magically create bell-like melodies, singing basses and flashing beats. The musical journey leads from jazz to jungle with various detours via pop and minimal music. The performance follows the rules defined by his Tonlichtmanifesto: Sound and light form an inseparable unit; the music becomes visible and the audience is hypnotized. The performance is followed by a behind-the-scenes tour, during which the inner workings of the machines can be inspected.
Leo Neu is an audiovisual artist and computer scientist. His work focuses on the combination of sound, light, science and technology. Leo Neu lives and solders in Lübeck.
Followed by an opening party with Julian Maier Hauff and Surprise Lightshow.
