Reading marathon of the German-Italian Society Lübeck e.V.
The focus of the 12th edition of the VDIG Reading Marathon is Andrea Camilleri's work on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
The 12th VDIG Reading Marathon presents excerpts from the works of Andrea Camilleri on the occasion of his 100th birthday. The successful author was born on September 6, 1925 in Porto Empedocle, a small port town in southern Sicily, and died on July 17, 2019 in Rome. He dedicated his entire life to literature and writing. Camilleri wrote poetic texts, short stories and crime novels featuring the famous character Commissario Montalbano. But he was also a lecturer at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome, worked in the theater and as a director for Italian television. The writer Leonardo Sciascia introduced him to Elvira Sellerio and so began his collaboration with the Sellerio publishing house in Palermo, which then became his preferred publishing house.
Andrea Camilleri has written more than 100 books. You can look forward with us to an interesting selection. Dr. Francesca Bravi (lecturer at the Institute of Romance Studies at Kiel University) has undertaken the academic preparation and text selection and will charmingly moderate the reading marathon with us. You are cordially invited to this reading pleasure.
