Lesung bei Litfass mit Annika Büsing

Bochum-based author Annika Büsing has won several awards for her wonderfully honest and touching debut novel "Nordstadt" (Steidl, 2022) (Mara Cassens Prize, German Youth Literature Prize, Ruhr Literature Prize) - now she's making her way to our Nordstadt to read from her latest (third) novel "Wir kommen zurecht":

Philipp has learned to pull himself together, keep his mouth shut and not get on anyone's nerves. He is almost eighteen and about to graduate from high school. His father, a successful surgeon, has a new girlfriend and is "steering the world", while his mother only appears in his thoughts from time to time in a blur. Philipp finds support with his best friend Lorenz, with whom he shares almost everything, except for his unclear memories of a dog or his wild love for student Mascha. When the police call looking for Philipp's mother once again, he has to decide whether he wants to remain invisible or finally stand up for himself.

Annika Büsing has written a tender, closely observed book about a family that almost breaks apart due to the mother's mental illness. She gets very close to the thoughts, feelings and lives of her characters. As if through a magnifying glass, "Wir kommen zurecht" looks at what family can be.
