In the organizer's words:

The Women's Museum Bonn and the Women's Network for Peace e.V. cordially invite you to a very special reading: The South Sudanese writer and human rights activist Stella Gaitano is a guest in Bonn and will read from her stories "Endless Days at Point Zero", among others. In her stories, Stella Gaitano tells of flight and displacement, of dreams and longings, of family and community - and sometimes simply of everyday life in Sudan.

Stella Gaitano was born in Khartoum/Sudan in 1979 and studied pharmacy. She has written the short story collections "Withered flowers" and "The Return", a children's book and two novels. Her first novel "Edo's Souls" was the first South Sudanese novel to be awarded the PEN Prize for Translation. This novel was also nominated for the Warwick Prize for Women in Translation and the Banipal Prize for Arabic Translation 2024. Last year, her short story collection "Endless Days at Point Zero" was named one of the best translated books of 2024 according to Litprom. Since 2022, she has been living in Germany as a scholarship holder of the exile program supported by the PEN Center Germany.

The reading will be partly in the original Arabic, but mainly in German. The subsequent discussion will be held in German and English (with translation).
