Franka has always felt lost amidst the silence of her family. Even her grandmother, known as the Fox, hoarded secrets like the black stones in her apron. When Franka returned to the Franconian province with its sky ponds and mirror carp in her late twenties, she finally took a look: What it was like in the noughties, when Germany wanted to become world champions in their own country. When her father died and she found like-minded people in Patrick and Janna, who covered up insecurity with riots and frustration with punches. When she got deeper and deeper into the right-wing scene. She begins to ask questions and searches for a stance on the past.

A highly topical debut about a youth in the countryside caught between the longing to belong, radical anger and the blind spots of one's own family.

Annegret Liepold, born in Nuremberg in 1990, studied comparative literature and political science in Munich and Paris. She received numerous awards for her debut novel Unter Grund, including the City of Munich Literature Scholarship and an invitation to the 15th Writing Workshop of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation and the Novel Workshop of the Literaturforum im Brecht-Haus Berlin. In 2022 she was a finalist in the open mike. She works for the "Bayerische Akademie des Schreibens" at the Literaturhaus München.
