Presentation of the memorial site for the Leipzig Meuten and reading by author Johannes Herwig

The TDJW invites you to a special reading during the Leipzig Book Fair as part of the "Lindenau reads!" program: Guest is author Johannes Herwig, who will read from his novel "Bis die Sterne zittern", which tells the story of young people who join the Leipzig Meuten at the time of National Socialism.
The SOUNDS OF RESISTANCE project is also about these cliques, which opposed the ideology of National Socialism and its embodiment in the Hitler Youth and BDM. Following a decision by the city council, a memorial dedicated to the Leipzig Meuten is to be created on Lindenauer Markt. On March 30, all interested parties will not only have the opportunity to find out about the design for the memorial site, but also to participate in its content: Following the reading, we want to generate texts together that can be used for the LED tickers integrated into the memorial.

SOUNDS OF RESISTANCE is funded by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) and the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) as part of the educational agenda on Nazi injustice.

The installation of the memorial is co-financed by the City of Leipzig, Department of Strategic Cultural Policy.
