In June, Karina Papp reads from her book "Tongue Twister" at the kohero Salon.

Kiera leaves St. Petersburg to study in Berlin. Between seminars and jobs, fear of the future and crushes, she is in danger of losing herself there. As wars and crises continue to spread, she struggles to reconcile her dreams with her migrant reality. She throws herself into translating texts. In the words of her role models, she digs for possibilities of resistance and for her own voice.

What does it mean to search for love in a shattering world? How does desire fit between rampant wars? What parts of ourselves are hidden in foreign languages? And can the search for beauty be an act of resistance?

Karina Papp is an author and translator born in 1988 in what is now Latvia. She studied journalism and literature in Russia. She has lived in Berlin since 2013.

Course of the event:

• 18:40: Reading
• from approx. 19:45: Open exchange with the audience
