We cordially invite you to a reading of "Star Girl Space Boy" with author Mirjam Kay Mashkour.

Coffee to run. Death by overwork. Abolition of everything that does not generate profit. The novel Star Girl Space Boy paints a picture of a society that is technologically advanced but emotionally stunted. The glamorous couple of the States Union: rock star Jean Rodenberry and astrobiologist Thomas Victor Major. Both will walk over dead bodies for their bold visions and megalomaniacal ambitions. In the end, they stand in each other's way and the crash is - literally - pre-programmed.

Author Mkay (pen name) is an elected spokesperson for Aachen's independent literary scene and a member of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine Literature Office. She organizes events and is committed to improving the conditions of the local subculture. Alongside her studies, she worked as a journalist in Hanover, Berlin and Cologne and published short stories and song lyrics in anthologies. The novella School of Chaos was published in 2022, the audiobook the following year. In fall 2024, Mkay's debut novel Star Girl Space Boy was published by LeeBooks Verlag. Work on her second novel, Arrivist, is funded by the City of Cologne with the Rolf-Dieter Brinkmann Scholarship.

The reading with Mirjam Kay Mahskour will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 7 pm at Forough Buchhandlung, Jahnstraße 24 in Cologne. The entrance fee is 7 euros. The event will be hosted by book blogger Laila Riedmiller.
