Reyhan Şahin performed as a feminist rapper when that was far from fashionable. She completed a doctorate as a woman with a migration background when German academia was still as diverse as dry white bread. She always let contempt, hatred and defamation bounce off her. That was her superpower. But the toughest test was yet to come: the diagnosis of breast cancer.

A quick-witted, progressive feminist with breast cancer meets the white-shirted, over-pressured German doctors. When Reyhan Şahin is suddenly diagnosed with breast cancer, her bitchy superpower seems to leave her for the first time. But not for long.

We follow her from the shock of the diagnosis through chemotherapy to the happiness of her first recovery. And yet. In German rap and in science, she has prevailed despite the many obstacles for a woman (and especially Of Color). As a sufferer, she has to experience once again what it means not to be read as German, which can be a difficult test in such an exceptional situation. But with her combative nature, her resilience and her humor, she also manages to see the help, the support, the care she receives, the commonality. Because cancer makes everyone the same. A story of great humanity that reminds us of what unites us, especially in times of need. And that only a few can tell like Reyhan Şahin.
