The reality of prostitution - the key role of men

In 1999, Sweden became the first country in the world to criminalize the purchase of sexual acts, but not their sale, with the introduction of the so-called Nordic Model. Detective Inspector Simon Häggström is head of the Stockholm Police Department's prostitution unit. Every day he encounters those whom our society would rather not see: the prostituted women, the clients and the pimps. In his book Auf der Seite der Frauen - Als Ermittler im schwedischen Rotlichtmilieu (On the Side of the Women - As an Investigator in the Swedish Red Light District), he tells their stories and reports on what the work of a police officer looks like under the Nordic model.
