Dances from all over the world

They are the particularly vital and vitalizing elements of an opera, a symphony or a concert - and at the Heinerfest concert, an entire programme is dedicated to them. We are talking about the dances with which composers of all eras and nations have always been able to be sure of their effect on the audience. Whether as habanera or polonaise, as waltz or danse macabre, the dance movements set the striking exclamation marks. The Hungarian Gábor Hontvári is a conductor who knows the importance of dance in music. "Music and dance seem to be different branches of art," he says, "but they have always had a close and influential relationship. Movement, gesture, groove, tempo, rhythm and articulation are central elements of both art forms that have always been part of our human existence."

The Heinerfest concert thus brings to life that which is always in motion. The classics of dance are given the big stage here - Let's Dance!
