Levi Schechtmann & David Wurm

Today we have the pleasure of presenting two of Hamburg's most exciting young artists: on October 6, pianist Levi Schechtmann and violinist David Wurm will bring selected works by Edvard Grieg, Prokofiev and Rachmaninov to the Elbphilharmonie's Small Hall.

Levi Schechtmann began playing the piano at the age of 7 and shortly afterwards took part in various Hamburg competitions. This was followed by numerous awards such as prizes at the Grand Prix of the International Feurich Competition in Vienna 2016 & 2017 and the award as 1st prize winner at the 2nd German-Chinese Piano Competition. In August 2023, he also received the prestigious Dr. Eva Maria Zbick-Föderpreis. Levi Schechtmann is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg in the class of concert pianist & professor Anna Vinnitskaya. He has also been a Bechstein Ambassador since 2023 and has been working regularly with the instrument manufacturer ever since.

More than 400,000 people already follow the young piano artist on Instagram and his reinterpretations of classical music regularly reach millions of views.

David Wurm is no less award-winning. David Wurm, born in Hamburg in 2000, has already performed as a soloist in renowned concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie and the CCH Hamburg. Since June 2022, he has taken on the role of concertmaster and project manager at the Albert Schweitzer Jugendorchester. Here he combines artistic direction with organizational tasks and youth development. He also performs as a soloist with his orchestra.

David completed his bachelor's degree at the HfMT Hamburg in February 2024, where he studied with Prof. Christoph Schickedanz. He has received several awards, including a first prize at the national competition Jugend musiziert Violin Solo. David has also participated in various recording projects, including with NDR 90,3 in 2014 and a CD production in 2023. He was also a juror at the 60th state competition Jugend musiziert Hamburg in March 2023.

Levi Schechtmann and David Wurm have been playing together as a duo since 2014 - but the performance on October 6 is undoubtedly their biggest joint appearance to date and underlines the special bond between the two musicians.
