After an incredibly beautiful concert in 2023 at the Säule, LEYA are coming to the Museum Küppersmühle this May!

LEYA (US), the avant-pop duo of harpist Marilu Donovan and singer/violinist Adam Markiewicz, has long lived in a beguiling world that blends medieval origins with modern folk, classical and more. From deep roots in the NYC underground to international recognition as a crossover force, her work has found its way into realms ranging from fashion runways to Pornhub and beyond.

The foundation of LEYA is the unique vocal system of the harp that Donovan designed for the project, which combines with Markiewicz's distinctly broad, operatic vocal palette and further blends with his processed violin tones. The template for this sound can be found on their 2018 debut "The Fool" and was further developed on their groundbreaking 2020 follow-up "Flood Dream". The New York Times called it "the auditory equivalent of waking up in the fog of a bad dream, only to realize you're still trapped in the nightmare." This sense of unease has become a signature sound of the project, a collision of beauty and misfortune that both reassures and disturbs listeners.
