Lia Rodrigues' new work 'Borda' is a performance about overcoming the geographical, political, social and personal barriers that visibly or invisibly surround us: Walls of barbed wire, concrete and hedges, but also of beliefs, views and differences. In Portuguese, the word "borda" not only means border, but is derived from the verb "bordar" - to decorate, embellish or, in a figurative sense, "to imagine something". Imagination gives us the opportunity to overcome what separates us from one another. How can we take the land of our visions, wishes, memories and futures with us? Perhaps by patiently and painstakingly weaving together a porous place of flowing otherness, an embroidery in which edges move, float and dance.
