The Mexican poet Sofía Sánchez, who lives in Seville, is a guest in Cologne. Together with her translator Maia Traine, she will read from her poetry collection "Kleinstgestein" (parasitenpresse 2025) and bring along her band Libertè, which is touring Germany in July.

Libertè is a Latin fusion music project that originated in Belgrade, Serbia, in 2022. Travel is at its core, and fusion is its guiding principle. The members come from different cultural backgrounds and have discovered diverse musical traditions along the way - often in exchange with local artists. This has resulted in a unique sound that blurs the boundaries. Now based in Seville, Libertè combines Latin American rhythms with Afro-Caribbean influences, Balkan music, jazz and classical elements. The repertoire consists mainly of original compositions and offers a lively stage program in which music meets poetry and sometimes dance. Every performance is a celebration of cultural diversity - an open, boundless space in which sounds and movements unfold and combine freely.

Sofía Sánchez (San Luis Potosí, Mexico, 1992) is a Mexican poet, singer and editor. She studied communication sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and completed a master's degree in creative writing. She then completed a PhD in Communication Sciences at the Universidad de Sevilla (Spain). She is the founder of the publishing house Torbellino. Her publications include "Los poemas de un monstruo o una rosa" (2013); "Los astros" (Ediciones En Huida, 2018; Luis Cernuda Prize winner); "Bisontes de luz" (2019, Editorial Ultramarina C & D). In 2020, her play "Arrodillarse en la boca crispada de las hadas" (El Libro Feroz) was published, followed in 2021 by "Áncora y La estampida del silencio" (Garvm). Her latest book was published in Granada, Spain, and is entitled "Las fieras subterráneas" (2024, Sonámbulos Ediciones).

"Kleinstgestein" (parasitenpresse 2025) is her first publication in German. In it, she explores the themes of feminism, decolonization and indigenous culture and history. Indigenous knowledge and Western philosophy are integrated into a universal cosmology. The texts attempt to bring together opposing world knowledge in a poetic way.
