Lichtblick - sound spaces between shadow and light

With Lichtblick, the Vokalkunst chamber choir under the direction of Daniel Radde presents an a cappella concert that musically explores the contrasts between darkness and light. The works on the program reflect existential experiences - from threat and sadness to hope and confidence.

The first part leads into the depths of human emotions. Compositions by John August Pamintuan, Matthew Brown and Zane Randall Stroope, among others, address inner turmoil, despair and turmoil. Expressive harmonies and dynamic contrasts draw sound spaces in which darkness becomes palpable.

The tonal language gradually changes: in works by Patricia van Ness, John Trotta and Tine Bec, the music opens up, sound spaces widen and light becomes perceptible. A highlight is Doxologia by Ily Matthew Maniano, which uses eight voices to create a sound architecture in which light can be experienced as a constant presence. The festive finale is Plaudite, psallite by Kęstutis Daugirdas - a lively interplay of rhythmic conciseness and vocal virtuosity.

Since its foundation in 2023, Vokalkunst has established itself as an ensemble dedicated to 20th and 21st century choral music with precise intonation and tonal transparency. With over twelve concerts a year, the choir reaches a national audience.

Lichtblick is a concert experience that makes contrasts audible and explores the question of what light means in music - and in life.
