Lichtbrechen. Der Fotograf und Choreograf VA Wölfl | Videoinstallation, Vorträge, Gespräche, Fotografie, Performance

In the organizer's words:

More than almost any other artist, VA Wölfl stands for the productive connections between the visual arts, photography and German dance theater as it emerged at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen in the 1960s and 1970s. Kurt Jooss and Otto Steinert are the outstanding initiators, Pina Bausch, Reinhild Hoffmann, Ute Eskildsen, Timm Rautert, Rolf Borzik and many others alongside VA Wölfl are the inventors of new artistic languages. His work of experimental photography, performance, film and video art culminates in the chor(e)ographies of the NEUER TANZ ensemble (1987-2024), one of the most resistant stage works of contemporary art.

Founded together with Wanda Golonka, Wölfl has led the company alone since 1995. Key works from NEUER TANZ as well as film, performance and photographic works are shown in video installations. Companions from the worlds of art and science contextualize one of the most successful theater projects of the last 35 years.

As part of the EMOP Berlin - European Month of Photography 2025.

With Izaskun Abrego, Dieter Buroch, Ute Eskildsen, Wanda Golonka, Nele Hertling, Reinhild Hoffmann, Ulrich Krempel, Bettina Milz, Detlev Schneider, Gerald Siegmund, Tom Stromberg, Claire Verlet, Arnd Wesemann and others.
