The nationally popular festival of lights attracts visitors to Benrath Palace Park every year with magical sounds and a unique ambience. Visitors experience an unforgettable evening and unwind with an atmospheric open-air concert with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, cozy picnics by the mirror pond and breathtaking light and water features that are coordinated with the musical masterpieces, while the castle backdrop shines in the most beautiful colors.

You can access the event area via the palace forecourt at the main entrance (Benrather Schloßallee 100 | Entrance 1 and 2) and the side entrance at the Orangerie (Urdenbacher Allee | Entrance 3 | not barrier-free). Pets are not permitted on the event grounds. For your safety, access and bag checks will be carried out at the entrance. Please allow sufficient time for this and note that your ticket loses its validity when you leave the grounds. Re-entry is not possible. Non-permitted items will be collected and disposed of. A return is not possible.

At the current planning stage, fireworks will not be set off. The program is subject to change.

Tickets

Tickets for the Festival of Lights are available in various price categories. All tickets include free return travel on VRR and VRS public transport (2nd class) in the VRR and VRS area. CombiTickets are not transferable.

Festival of Lights Premium*

We offer our exclusive Premium seats on the southern castle steps. The elevated seating gives you a particularly good view of the stage and the colorful hustle and bustle. In addition, admission is regulated via a separate entrance* for the separately accessible area*, so that the evening can get off to a relaxed start. And the premium tickets also have an ace up their sleeve in culinary terms: An exclusive picnic basket and refreshing drinks before the event and during the interval are already included in the price**.

* The premium area and the associated sanitary facilities are not barrier-free.

** Selection of cold drinks from 19:30 - 21:00 and during the break

Picnic areas

With your personal ticket in the picnic area category, you are right in the middle of the action and can set yourself up on the green area around the Spiegelweiher. There are virtually no limits to your creativity here. However, we would urge you to show consideration for other visitors and only take up the space you actually need. Please check the FAQs before the event to find out about the requirements for bringing your own and prohibited items and allow sufficient time for bag checks. All individual picnic areas must be set up securely.

Seating in the seated area

Seating is also available in the seated area in front of the castle in various price categories. All seats guarantee you the best listening pleasure*** and a view of the illuminated castle park. Please note that it is not permitted to bring your own furniture into the seated area and that your seats must be taken by the start of the concert at the latest. It is not possible to move to the picnic area.

Picnic basket for the picnic area

For a successful picnic, the Schlosscafé will put together a picnic basket² for two with classic or vegetarian delicacies: Fragrant bread, homemade spreads and a variety of fresh cheeses and hearty snacks will tempt you alongside small nibbles and sweet temptations. For a toast to a wonderful evening, there is of course also something delicately sparkling that gently raises the bubbles to the beat of the music.

Choose between the classic version or the vegetarian picnic when you buy. In addition to the fresh products, the picnic baskets contain glasses, cutlery, napkins and a bottle of still water³.

Discounts

Reduced tickets are only available for the picnic area category.

Reduced tickets are valid for school pupils aged 15 and over, trainees, students up to the age of 30 and people with a disability of 70% or more. Please show your ID at the entrance together with your reduced-price ticket without being asked.

Persons who are dependent on a wheelchair will receive a ticket in blocks C and F at the normal price of the selected category. The accompanying person receives Free admission. Please only use the main entrance via Benrather Schloßallee 100 and Entrance 1, to the right of the palace. From here you can get directly to your booked seat within the seated area in front of the southern palace staircase. Please note that Entrance 3 at the Orangery (Urdenbacher Allee) is not barrier-free. Tickets for people with disabilities and their accompanying person are only available from our museum store.

Children and young people between the ages of 0 and 14 receive children's tickets, which are only valid for the picnic area price category. Children's tickets are available online and in the museum store.
