The Council of Elders looks at the world with concern: people are all so far apart, are strangers to themselves, and yet no one is an island. They can only exist as a community, they have neighbors and need them. However, approaching one another, engaging with one another, seems to have become very difficult, and in order to learn to feel anew, people are banished to an island, the sea around them as an insurmountable border to the rest of the world. In all this isolation, people spend a long time searching for deeply felt majorities. Previous life plans are put to the test. Will they still include charity?

The council of elders wants to create togetherness again and chooses a man and a woman for a bold experiment: They are to become a couple, they are to feel each other again, try out the lost feeling of closeness, allow each other to be again. So, step by step, they begin to meet again, first two, then three, then many, and the sea that seemed limiting to them now opens up as a path to undiscovered horizons.
