It all starts with a leaden tiredness. But Lilli has no time to be tired. For as long as she can remember, she has had to work harder than others. At home, because she and her mother have to manage as a couple. In friendships, because she never really belongs. At school, because she always gets the numbers wrong. Now that Lilli is about to take her A-levels, she can only ignore her tiredness. Until she collapses. It turns out that Lilli's heart isn't beating fast enough and she needs a pacemaker. Up to now, Lilli's problems have all had to do with life. Suddenly she has to fight for survival ... As if that wasn't enough, her boyfriend breaks up with her shortly before the operation. And even a pacemaker can't heal a broken heart. Gratulieren musst ihr mir nicht (Schöffling) is a poignant debut novel full of humor about a young woman who, just as she is finding her way in life, has to face death. And who is confronted harder and earlier than most people with the question of what really counts in the end. Lilli Polansky was born in Vienna in 2001, where she still lives and studies today.
