TV weatherman Chris Masterman (Ryan Corr) clearly has his best days behind him. But the Australian still has his true destiny ahead of him. It all starts when he drives his car from Sydney to Broome. That's a mere 3,400 kilometers. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, better known as the outback, Chris hits a young kangaroo. Because he's a good guy, he takes the animal to the next town. There, the girl Lilly (Lily Whiteley) tells him that he is now responsible for the animal as a kangaroo rescuer. And so Chris stays in the outback. Together with Lilly, he takes responsibility for more than one baby kangaroo.

To round off the Stadtwerke Sommerkino, a feel-good movie warms the heart. The preview of Kate Woods' LILLY AND THE KANGAROOS is good for you - and it gets even better: the story has a kernel of truth. Former tour guide Chris "Brolga" Barns runs a breeding farm in Australia. The BBC made him famous as Kangaroo Dundee. The (by no means fictional) family comedy tells in a life-friendly way what's happening when you just do it. The nature shots are impressive. What's more, Kate Woods knows what it takes to survive in the outback: plenty of humor.
