Henri Michaux created two works, L'infini Turbulent and Connaissance parles gouffres, which show us how our view of reality is altered by hallucinations and distorted perceptions. In a world dominated by social media and digital images, we are slowly losing touch with reality. Everything is monitored and we are often surrounded by images and information that alienate us from the real world.

Pierre Jodlowski's Limbus project plays with this theme. It shows a stage that initially looks quite normal - with tables, instruments and even a wrecked car. But behind the stage there is a "screen door" that leads into another, strange world. Here, the performers lose their identities, double up and transform into strange, monstrous or enigmatic figures wandering through a labyrinth. The boundary between the real stage and the virtual world becomes blurred and the two worlds increasingly influence each other.

LIMBUS has already been performed at numerous venues and festivals, including the Festival Musica (Strasbourg), Forum ByPass (Toulouse) and most recently at Les Taraux (Lausanne).

About the Frequenz_Festival:

For seven days, experimental music by young composers from all over Europe will be heard in Kiel - together with audiovisual art and interactive installations.

From 16 to 23 May 2025, the Frequenz_Festival Kiel will present a very special visual and listening experience with numerous highlights in the program. The works of the youngest generation of multimedia artists will be the focus of the ten concerts and four installations at six different venues in Kiel. Since the festival was founded, the Pumpe has become one of the most important cooperation partners and will once again host various concerts, two world premieres and the festival week's sonorous closing evening.
This year's program reflects socio-political themes that refer to the disintegration of social structures, the blurring of boundaries between the digital and real world or the loss of real contact with reality and create new artistic orders.
