H. G. Wells (Herbert George Wells) not only wrote the first story about time machines that travel into the past and the distant future, but also prepared material that became important for film and science fiction in the 20th and 21st centuries: Alien attacks, the Fourth Dimension, invisibility, genetic manipulation and nuclear wars. Who was this immensely prolific and often prophetic author and what impact did he have, and not just in literature? Constance Timm talks about this with English scholar and Wells biographer Elmar Schenkel
