Background
We, the team from the Literary Forum for Feminist Voices (LiFo), have spent two and a half years researching public literary funding in NRW. We examined three areas of funding
(1) Education and training,
(2) literary mediation and events
(3) Prizes, residencies, scholarships
and asked ourselves: What kind of authorship, which constellations of actors and forms of work are supported by existing funding instruments? What other people and processes could be supported? Which topics and concerns are not yet considered by cultural funding, but also by the independent scene? This research process took place in three phases:
In phase 1 , we traced the literature funding structures in NRW and summarized them in a report. In doing so, we drew on existing cultural and funding policy strategy and concept papers. We shared our initial findings in an interim public presentation.
In phase 2, we supplemented, corrected and expanded the report in three workshops together with actors from literary policy and literature studies, authors and event organizers.
In phase 3 , we organized the literary event stoff aus luft - wasser, wellen as an example. This event combined literary forms such as prose and poetry with aesthetically integrated accessibility measures (Aesthetics of Access). combined. In preparation for the event, we worked with Max Greyson (Un-Label) on Aesthetics of Access in the field of literature.
At the end of the research project, we would like to present and discuss the results and look for starting points for the further development of the literature scene in Cologne and NRW:
