Some need love, others need money, in "Soft War" they face each other. A performance at the interface between theater and literature, longing and lies.

Love scammers: on social media and dating apps, men living precariously in countries of the global South pretend to love single women in order to ask them for money under grotesque pretexts. The author, dancer and performer Martina Hefter spent months chatting with such men and playing with lies and longing. The anonymity of the chats and the strangeness of the situation open up a special, artistic space: do the messages also conceal a longing for transformation? For a different, new identity?

In her performance based on her acclaimed novel "Hey guten Morgen, wie geht es dir?" (Klett-Cotta, German Book Prize 2024), Martina Hefter processes her experiences into a fusion of text, dance and music. Together with multi-instrumentalist Patrice Lipeb and choreographer and dancer Kevin Albancando Tuntaquimba, she explores the questions of morality and guilt, lies and truth in a sensual and sophisticated way. And they reveal the ember at the heart of this gentle war: longing.
