Shida Shahabi is a composer and pianist. Every note touches the heart, her music is full of sensitivity and contemplation. You can hear this in her music, in which delicate piano and cello lines are accompanied by drone waves.
Born in Stockholm in 1989, Shida Shahabi listened to Persian pop music from the 1970s as well as classical works in her parents' home, but, she emphasizes, "it was the environment - my parents' joy of listening and singing - that shaped my relationship with music, not genres or my family's CD collection." She began composing at the age of eleven, and when she started studying at the Royal College of Art in Stockholm in 2009, she decided to combine this creative urge with her passion for the visual arts. By the time she left the institute, she was already working as a freelance musician with numerous local artists and bands and was soon writing for dance, cinema, theater and visual arts.
