The story revolves around forensic psychologist Ira Samin, who has no will to live after the tragic loss of her eldest daughter. But shortly before she can take her own life, she is called to a dramatic hostage-taking case: An unknown person has stormed the studio of the Berlin radio station 101Punkt5 and turned the harmless telephone quiz "Cash Call" into a deadly game. Every wrong sentence from a caller means the death of a hostage. His demand? He wants to see his fiancée - but according to the police, she is long dead. As Ira reluctantly begins her investigation, she comes across more and more inconsistencies. Is the hostage-taker really a madman, or is there more to his deadly game?

Sebastian Fitzek, born in 1971, is Germany's most successful author of psychological thrillers. Since his debut "Die Therapie" (2006), all of his novels have been at the top of the bestseller lists. His books have already sold 13 million copies, have been translated into twenty-four languages and have been adapted for international cinema and theater. Sebastian Fitzek was the first German author to be awarded the European Prize for Crime Fiction. "Amokspiel" was his second novel.

The director

Josef Ulbig is a radio play director, author and screenwriter. He has been working at Lauscherlounge since 2014, where he heads the "stories" creative team, among others. His debut radio play "Kleiner Drei" (with Max Riemelt, Eva Meckbach, Johannes Klaußner, among others) was published by our publishing house in 2019. He has directed bestselling adaptations such as the Waringham saga (Rebecca Gablé), children's radio play series such as "Panini Sports Academy" and socially relevant podcasts such as "Article X - The Basic Law in 11 Stories". With "Der Greif - Die Vorboten" and "Blackout Storys", mystery and fantasy formats are also part of the productions. He was nominated for the German Audiobook Award in 2025 for his staged reading of "Die Tasche".
In the psychological thriller genre, he was responsible for the radio play versions of several Sebastian Fitzek bestsellers (Der Insasse, Das Paket, Die Therapie, Der Nachtwandler) and realized the live radio play tour of Fitzek's "Das Paket" as director and author.

If you close your eyes, you hear a radio play - but if you open them, you not only get an insight into the radio play production, but also experience a very special art form on stage. The narrators, a foley artist and a sound designer let the audience participate in the creation of a radio play.

Lauscherlounge

The publishing house and event organizer Lauscherlounge has been active since 2003 under the direction of "Die drei ???" narrator Oliver Rohrbeck. To date, over 700 live radio plays, readings, live podcasts and various "Die drei ???" shows have been organized throughout Germany. The Lauscherlounge's artistic team consists of professional authors, directors, technicians, musicians and foley artists.
