Theaterformen: Los dias afuera/ The days out there

In the organizer's words:

Los días afuera / The days out there

Lola Arias, Buenos Aires / Berlin

Nacho becomes a cab driver, Paula starts working in an illegal textile workshop, Noelia becomes a sex worker again and campaigns for the rights of trans people: After a group of cis women and trans people have served their sentences in various Argentinian prisons, they now act out scenes from their lives, which thus become fiction. Now, after their release, they have to ask themselves how they can look to the future, even though the past haunts them. For they have all served their sentences and are trying to build a new life, but they are confronted with the obstacle of their criminal records. On stage, they share their most intimate desires and make their future their own. They provide an insight into a repressive system and the struggle for survival in a country characterized by inflation and right-wing populism. Los días afuera / The days out there, which is a musical, variety show, documentary and theater all in one, moves between voguing and cumbia melodies - an ode to freedom.

Lola Arias is an author, theater and film director and performer whose work constantly explores new ways of telling people's life stories and bringing different performers together on stage. Her productions play with the boundaries between reality and fiction. Influenced by her work as an author, Lola Arias constructs stories, documentary texts and traces of real and speculative pasts, presents and futures on stage. Lola Arias has been a guest at Festival Theaterformen several times, most recently in 2021 with the joint production of Schauspiel Hannover and Festival Theaterformen Ich bin nicht tot . In 2024 she received the prestigious International Ibsen Prize.
