silent green presents
loscil is the electronic music project of Canadian composer and multimedia artist Scott Morgan. For over 20 years, Morgan has created an extensive body of work under the name loscil, which stylistically moves between ambient, classical and electro-acoustic music. Since 2001, most loscil albums have been released on the renowned US label Kranky.
In May 2025, loscil returns to Kranky with Lake Fire - a nine-part work full of ashy sounds that explore the tension in the cycle of destruction and renewal. Lake Fire is the result of a fragmented creative process: originally planned as a suite for electronics and ensemble, most of the compositions were discarded - with the exception of Ash Clouds, which features James Meager on double bass. The remaining pieces were reshaped and reworked, recreated from the remnants of the discarded works. The result is like a phoenix: an album that has been burned down and reassembled from its own ashes. Fragments of the original lie dormant beneath a densely painted canvas of sound.
Patricia Wolf is a musician, sound designer and field recordist based in Portland, Oregon. Her work sonically unites the natural and modern worlds by integrating ecological sound sources into her minimalist electronic compositions. Using melody and repetition, she draws listeners into a hypnotic interior space where she creates vivid sonic textures and atmospheres with emotional depth.
