LOST IN MUSIC:
Stories from pop music
Event with readings and live music
IT'S A HARDCORE NIGHT was the name of a series of events in Munich at which authors, actors and celebrities read texts from their favorite books published by Heyne Hardcore, which still existed at the time, accompanied by music from local musicians and bands on the fly and then danced together.
Heyne Hardcore is now history.
But now the then publishing director and initiator of the event series Markus Naegele (also known as Don Marco as a musician and DJ) is bringing together what belongs together again under the motto LOST IN MUSIC (based on the cult book by Giles Smith).
Letters, (auto)biographical texts, articles, excerpts from novels from the wide world of pop music. Read aloud by authors, musicians, presenters and actors.
There will be live music on the fly, but not just any music, no, LOST IN MUSIC is also about the high art of cover versions, performed by local acts.
Afterwards, friendly DJs play their favorite records and it's time to party.

The performers
Michael Bartle bought "London Calling" by The Clash in a large department store in Deggendorf at the age of 12 and was a music fan from then on. After working in several newspaper editorial offices, he joined BR, where he now works as an editor and head of the music department at Zündfunk on Bayern 2.
Elena Rud is a singer, songwriter and frontwoman of her eponymous band from Munich. She sings, screams and whispers as if she would save the evening - or ruin it, depending on who you ask. Between indie pop and indie rock, she mixes feminism with glitter, anger with confetti and big feelings with the kind of humor that would rather bang than be nice. Everything is allowed on stage, except boredom.
Rainer "Gussie" Germann has played in legendary Munich bands such as Marionetz, The Mask, Cat Sun Flower and with his son Jesper Munk. He also produced his son's first album - just like the two albums by Fuck Yeah. He played in the glam-post-punk band together with "Lost In Music" organizer Markus Naegele. As a journalist and editor in the culture and food sector, he has worked for Penthouse, Spiegel Online, Die Zeit, Essen & Trinken and IN München magazine, where he is now editor-in-chief.
The Sound of Money bring a dazzling, absurdly funny kaleidoscope of classic pop styles to the stage: disco-folk, soul-punk with psychedelic lyrics, electro-exotica... "More? Why Not! - An Anagrammatic Exorcism of the 60s" is the name of the new concept album by the Munich all-star band, released just in time for the 50th anniversary of the "Summer of Love" in 1967. They turned the titles of twelve of their favorite records from this original pop decade into anagrams and, hey presto, they had 12 titles for completely new songs: "Pet Sounds" became "Nude Spots", "Highway 61 Revisited" became "I Had 1680 Wives". Like the letters of the title, the music and lyrics have been shaken up into a dazzling, grotesque kaleidoscope of classic 70s pop styles: Agricultural p-funk, financial casino gospel disco, anti-pogo post-punk, doubting home computer dub jazz, the whole of Bowie in three and a half minutes backwards. At "Lost in Music", they will perform in a slimmed-down band formation.
Sofia Lainovic is a 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Munich who mixes indie pop and 70s rock with jazz and soul influences as well as acoustic ballads. To play live, she often only needs a microphone and a guitar. Her biggest influences include Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fleetwood Mac, Amy Winehouse and Big Thief. She plays live together with her brother Philip.
Jakob Muehleisen started his career at the age of nine as a street musician on the banks of the Ammersee. The now 24-year-old singer-songwriter has since performed around 500 solo shows across Europe, including supporting Jamaram meets Jahcoustix, Chris Simmons, Malva and Dis M. Jakob Muehleisen is also the singer and guitarist of the music project "A Story For Reflection", founded in 2015, which was awarded the "Special Culture Prize" by the Landsberg am Lech district in 2020. The debut EP "Caprino", released in the same year, reached #9 in the iTunes alternative album charts and was heard on stations such as BR Puls, Bayern 3, Bayern 2 and TopFM.
Don Marco has been playing in various underground bands since the 90s. As singer, guitarist and songwriter of the indie garage band Fuck Yeah, he released two albums and played with bands such as Maximo Park, Algiers and Frightened Rabbit. As Don Marco & die kleine Freiheit, he released two albums in German with various musicians. 2024 saw the live debut of his new band Drug Stop. Under his real name Markus Naegele, he earned his living as publishing director at Heyne Hardcore, most recently as head of the btb Verlag program.
King Brownie comes from Osnabrück, where he influenced a whole generation musically as a DJ in Hyde Park and supported the likes of Die Ärzte, Stray Cats, Hanoi Rocks, Bo Diddley and the Undertones. He managed Lüde & the Astros for many years and works as a record salesman.
