Event with readings and live music

IT'S A HARDCORE NIGHT was the name of a series of events in Munich at which authors, actors and celebrities read texts from their favorite books published by Heyne Hardcore, which still existed at the time, accompanied by local musicians and bands on the fly and then danced together.
Heyne Hardcore is now history.
But now the then publishing director and initiator of the event series Markus Naegele (also known as Don Marco as a musician and DJ) is bringing together what belongs together again under the motto LOST IN MUSIC (based on the cult book by Giles Smith).

Letters, (auto)biographical texts, articles, novel excerpts from the wide world of pop music. Read aloud by authors, musicians, presenters and actors.
There will be live music on the fly, but not just any music, no, LOST IN MUSIC is also about the high art of cover versions, performed by local acts.
Afterwards, friendly DJs play their favorite records and it's time to party.

The performers

Katharina Bach, born in Wuppertal in 1985, first studied philosophy and theater studies at the University of Leipzig before going on to study acting at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. She spent eight years at Schauspiel Frankfurt before moving to the Münchner Kammerspiele in 2020. She performs there with her band bitchboy as a singer in the evening The Fe.male Trail and is united with the visual artist Catharina Szonn as CKgeil. She also works in radio and television.

Knut Cordsen, born in Kiel in 1972, attended the German School of Journalism in Munich and studied communication sciences, political science and sociology at the Ludwig Maximilian University. Since 1997, he has worked in the cultural editorial department of BR and for other ARD broadcasters - as a literary critic and presenter of the programs "kultur-Welt", "Diwan. Das Büchermagazin" and "Sozusagen! Comments on the German language" (Bayern2).

Christina Wolf is a journalist and presenter and works for Bayerischer Rundfunk, among others. She is a film and media scholar specializing in feminist film theory and horror. She has been nominated for the Grimme Online Award and the Prix Europa, among others, for her work, and her first serialized podcast Transformer was awarded the German Audiobook Prize. Christina Wolf lives in Munich.

Leo Reisinger learned the piano at six, carpentry at seventeen and acting at twenty-one. In the time between the rough boards and those that mean the world, he worked as a waiter in Munich's gastro scene, at the Oktoberfest and at the wholesale market. When he's not filming or rocking the audience with his band, he has a soft spot for unusual stories. "Bavarese" is his first novel. He lives with his family south of the cosmopolitan village of Munich with a view of the mountains.

The Christmas Allstars are a unique combination of the glam-punk band Zoo Escape with singer-songwriters Don Marco and Philip Bradatsch. In keeping with the date, they will take on the most beautiful, weirdest and best Christmas songs and perform their very own versions. The songs will be sung in turn. And no, "Last Christmas" will not be played.

Zoëla was founded in 2020 in the surroundings of the bar Cucurucu, where the three members worked. Their music is made for quiet bar evenings; they themselves call their music bedroom music. The unobtrusive mix of neo-soul and jazz with individual hip-hop elements reflects the personality of lead singer Hannah Zoe Götschl. Instead, she performs alongside Clemens von Finckenstein (on piano and drums) and Mateo Navarro (on guitar), who have already appeared in bands such as Inside Golden and Jesper Munk.

Don Marco has been playing in various underground bands since the 90s. As singer, guitarist and songwriter in the indie garage band Fuck Yeah, he has released two albums and played with bands such as Maximo Park, Algiers and Frightened Rabbit. As Don Marco & die kleine Freiheit, he released two albums in German with various musicians. 2024 saw the live debut of his new band Drug Stop. He earned his living under the civil name Markus Naegele as publishing director at Heyne Hardcore, most recently as head of the btb Verlag program.

King Brownie comes from Osnabrück, where he influenced a whole generation musically as a DJ in Hyde Park and supported the likes of Die Ärzte, Stray Cats, Hanoi Rocks, Bo Diddley and the Undertones. He managed Lüde & the Astros for many years and works as a record salesman.
