LOVE EAT (never) SLEEP, absence#6 - abstraction of memory, eine begehbare Tanzinstallation

In the organizer's words:

Nobody lives in the moment. From a physical point of view, the present is the moment when the future turns into the past." (Aleida Assmann)

With LOVE EAT (never) SLEEP // absence#6 - abstraction of memory, IPtanz 2025 continues its artistic exploration of memory, identity and collective perception.

Inspired by Maurice Halbwachs' concept of collective memory, the focus is on questions about its definition in times of migration, digital change and political transformation: What remains when spaces of memory disappear or merge into abstract spheres? How is memory reformatted? What is preserved, what is forgotten?

In an interdisciplinary setting with a pneumatic stage set, four dancers create a phantasy of a new present that is already past and thus part of our memory. The body as archive, ritual and the dissolution of security in a group context are central themes. Interviews with people from different backgrounds and generations are incorporated into the work.

An immersive experience: dance meets walk-in installation. Together with the Cologne artist miegL, an atmospheric, changeable, pneumatic landscape is created through which the audience moves freely - including a change of perspective.

Art for all: IPtanz creates spaces for participation - with low-barrier access, audio descriptions and touch tours for blind and visually impaired people, developed with the Cologne Association for the Blind and the North Rhine Association for the Blind.

Touch tours will take place on September 4 and 7, 45 minutes before the start of each event. There will also be an audio-discreeption of the performance on these days. There is a pick-up service for blind and visually impaired people from the Michaelshoven train station. Please register for the audio description at mailto:karten@ip-tanz.com or on 0179 5355366 due to limited seating availability

A physical-somatic introduction will take place 45 minutes before each performance.
