The Italian Cultural Institute Cologne, in cooperation with the Association of Friends of the IIC Cologne, will present the lecture by Stephan Steinmetz onApril 16 at 7 p.m.: Lucia di Lammermoor and more. Italian opera in the 2025/26 season at the Cologne Opera.

On the occasion of the first performance of Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti on April 26, directed by Eva-Maria Höckmayr, Stephan Steinmetz will take the Institute's audience on a journey that - based on this work - introduces the other Italian operas of the 2025/2026 season at the Cologne Opera: An invitation to all those who would like to get closer to Italian theater music and its beauty.

Stephan Steinmetz has been Chief Dramaturge at Cologne Opera since 2022. He previously worked as an opera dramaturge at various theaters in Germany and Switzerland. Italian opera and its cultural aspects have long been a focus of his theatrical activities.
