The music of the Luis Vicente Quartet is a fascinating return to the line-up and musical approach of the free jazz of the 60s and 70s. Vicente consciously breaks with conventional song structures, together the quartet frees itself from tonal boundaries, rhythmic guidelines and harmonic rules and creates the driving sound of an inviting musical-ritual ceremony. The compositional inspiration comes largely from Ornette Coleman's Harmolodics concept, in which harmony, sound movement and melody have equal importance.

Bassist Luke Stewart has been described by Downbeat magazine as "one of the 25 most influential jazz musicians of his generation", Amsterdam-based John Dikeman is a renowned North American saxophonist, Onno Govaert is an outstanding Dutch drummer and a permanent fixture on European stages.
