Maegandang

In the organizer's words:

Maegandang consists of three outstanding young artists who create sound innovations based on traditional Korean music. Maegandang literally means "a group of people who enchant, fascinate and entertain the audience with a mixture of music and performance". The three words are made up of the Chinese characters: 魅 (charm), 衎 (enjoyment), 黨 (group). The trio has coined a new genre called Neo-Traditional and performs traditional Korean music pieces as well as newly composed works with traditional musical instruments on stage. Professor Frank Böhme will give an introduction to the music, the instruments used and the artists. The event is presented by the German-Korean Society Hamburg (DKGH) and the HfMT. The DKGH is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the City of Busan in Korea and the Oversea Koreans Agency.
