You can hear real friendship. And so Maël & Jonas' debut album "rocket science" is not only lively, light-footed pop with a rock edge, but also completely handmade by friends and for friends, which is precisely why it sounds so wonderful. Between pop-punk, which sounds just like stage, and the next TikTok hit, the newcomer duo sings with their charismatic voices about the most diverse facets of friendship, love and growing up.

A lot is happening with Maël & Jonas right now, yet everything fing started small. Jonas sang his first songs for his girlfriend in his closet at home - "with a sock over the microphone". The two then met in the local music school band and quickly realized how much music connected them. The band split up in the meantime, but the friendship remained. And so it was a friendship that reunited the duo. Because Maël, who is always very excited before live performances, did not want to take part in "The Voice Of Germany" alone . So Jonas jumped to his side without further ado. The friends thus not only secured outstanding feedback, but also made it from a standing start to the finals. That was in the 10th Anniversary Staffel 2020.

"The year after that, we really found our sound," Jonas recalls. Developed the sound of "rocket science" which is characterized by fresh guitar-driven indie - pop, sometimes reminiscent of Blink-182, in the guise of powerful-optimistic compositions that make you turn up the radio. Maël & Jonas complement each other perfectly: after early imprints of classic rock and metal, Jonas' devotion to the modern reincarnation of the 2000s college punk sound comes through. Maël goes along tastefully and complements the music with his preference for tasteful singer-songwriters, like Jack Johnson or Billy Raffoul. Only for three songs on the album did the two get help on board - the rest, from songwriting to recording to production, Maël & Jonas took care of themselves.

This youthful, fresh sound that ignites from the first second perfectly underscores the duo's story, which speaks of two somewhat different phases of young adulthood. "We want to write songs that kick live, first and foremost." And live Maël & Jonas accompanied by their band, which consists of their closest friends, are by now a well-rehearsed force, which they do not already prove on their almost sold-out fall club tour. "And no matter how much heart and sweat goes into it, you should never take yourself too seriously. In the end, music is there to bring people together and have fun. The main thing is that people go home after our live show thinking to themselves, F*ck, that was two good hours." - With friends for friends.
