Magnus Dauner – Portrait in Rhythm

"Rhythm is the order in movement." This is how Plato is said to have tried to describe the phenomenon of rhythm. And movement is exactly the right reference to this extraordinarily musical jazz spectacle from the south of Germany. The singer Kilian Sladek, the trumpeter Andreas Unterreiner, the pianist Andreas Schütz and Lukas Pamminger on bass, together with Magnus Dauner, impress with an almost inexhaustible musical range that reaches as far as the South Indian Konnakol. Anyone who appreciates the extraordinary sound sequences of jazz-based world music is strongly recommended to listen to this band.

Born in Allgäu, Magnus Dauner is not only a trained jazz drummer, but also a musical globetrotter. His passion for drums and rhythm has taken him regularly to South India for ten years, where he studies the fascinating South Indian rhythm and the Konnakol rhythmic language at the Karnataka College of Percussion.

Dauner skillfully packs and hides his rich musical vocabulary in exciting and varied compositions. The outstandingly well-rehearsed line-up succeeds in creating a rousing interplay of familiar and unfamiliar soundscapes, which not only wins the hearts of listeners anew every time, but is also praised by the press for its innovative sound and infectious energy.
