"Tempo isn't everything, but there has to be a certain energy. It shouldn't sound comfortable," says Kian Soltani, referring to Haydn's Cello Concerto in C major, which the resident artist will be playing this evening with the renowned Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Whether it's groovy and virtuosic or a beautiful cantilena: the repertoire classic offers the cello star both; the orchestra complements two other audience favorites by Schumann and Mendelssohn.
